In the past coupel days the Cassified Listing seems to not be working properly.  It displays around 100 total listing, parenthesis after catagory, but far fewer are shown when opening the catagory.  Many listings that were there last week are are now gone.  Is there some ongoing issue?

We have recently identified an issue involving individuals impersonating legitimate buyers and sellers. In several cases, photos of astronomy equipment listed elsewhere online were copied and reposted as if they were original listings. That kind of activity undermines trust, and trust is the foundation of any serious marketplace.

We want ScopeTrader to be safe. Not just functional, not just active, but genuinely secure for the people who rely on it.

To protect our community, we have implemented a series of new safeguards, with additional, more advanced security measures already in development and scheduled to roll out in the near future.

Effective immediately, all accounts must be paid and all accounts are required to be verified.

Every new account is manually reviewed by a real human for legitimacy. Only after an account passes that review is it approved to complete the final step of validation.

The paid membership requirement serves two important purposes.

First, it allows us to verify that the credit card holder matches the identity of the account holder. That added layer of validation significantly reduces the likelihood of impersonation and fraudulent activity.

Second, it creates a meaningful barrier to entry for malicious actors. Most bad actors rely on anonymity and zero cost access. When participation requires verification, manual review, and a financial commitment, the vast majority simply move on.

We understand that these steps may temporarily slow activity as members complete the validation process. However, as more members verify their accounts, the classifieds will once again light up with action, this time built on a stronger foundation of trust and accountability.

If you need your account verified by our staff sooner rather than later, please use the Contact Us button above and let us know. We are here to help.

Our goal is straightforward. Protect serious buyers. Protect honest sellers. Preserve the integrity of ScopeTrader.

We will continue refining and strengthening our security systems to ensure ScopeTrader remains a trusted marketplace for the astronomy community.
