It uses a Seamless Focus Gear Ring that doesn't slip even on smooth or stiff focus rings. It is easily stretched and pulled over the camera/telescope focus ring to provide gear teeth that engage in an exact match with the drive gear on the stepper motor for positive non-slip focusing. To slip focus gear over focus ring, front or back optics diameter has to be <= focus ring diameter. And user can easily disengage the stepper by loosening two red thumb screws and backing stepper away in 3 seconds to focus manually at the beginning of the night. The impressive results with NINA that you can achieve with our nSTEP controller driving our powerful Stepper motor are also shown in photo below. Our design philosophy is modularity -- stepper and controller can easily be moved from one scope to another saving you money, Additional camera/telescopes can be accomodated by purchasing appropriate diameter Seamless Focus Gear Rings which are inexpensive and available for focus rings up to 92mm diameter. for more info see www.rigelsys.com or drop us an e-mail at rigelsys@cox.net thank you
