I need to vent about light pollution! 😡

I moved to a new house recently, and the streetlights here are unbelievably bright. It's gotten so bad that I can barely see the major constellations, let alone any deep-sky objects. My backyard observatory setup feels almost useless now.

Has anyone had success in petitioning their local HOA to install more night-sky-friendly lighting? I'm considering sending them a letter, but I'm not sure where to begin. Any advice would be appreciated. And if you just need to vent like me, feel free to share your stories. We're all in this together!
