Richard Harris Richard Harris

The Astro-Tech AT115EDT offers advanced optics with a 115mm ED triplet lens, a dual-speed focuser, and a 360° rotating mechanism for precise adjustments. Durable, with enhanced light transmission and contrast.

The Astro-Tech AT115EDT telescope is designed with a 115mm aperture and 805mm focal length, featuring ED (Extra-low Dispersion) apochromatic triplet refractor optics. This configuration minimizes color fringing and halos for clear, sharp images. The optics are slow-polished for reduced light scatter and are fully multicoated to enhance light transmission and contrast, ensuring optimal viewing by virtually eliminating reflections when looking into the objective lens.

Astro-Tech AT115EDT: All in all, an exceptional value

This model includes a robust dual-speed 2.5" rack-and-pinion focuser equipped with a microfine 10:1 focusing ratio for precise image control, ideal for both high magnification visual observing and critical imaging. The focuser, with ribbed grips for easy handling in various conditions, offers 75mm of travel and can be rotated 360° for optimal camera or eyepiece positioning. Additionally, a built-in camera angle adjuster and non-marring compression ring eyepiece holders add versatility without risking damage to accessories.

The telescope's structure features a 27.25" optical tube (extending to 32.4" with the lens shade), finished in durable white powder coating with grey anodized trim. It includes a retractable dew shield to prevent lens fogging and enhance contrast, a Vixen-style dovetail mount supported by dual split hinged tube rings, and a heavy-duty nylon carry case with organized storage for accessories. These features combine to make the Astro-Tech AT115EDT a highly capable and convenient option for both amateur and seasoned astronomers.

The Astro Tech AT115EDT refractor features

The Astro-Tech AT115EDT refractor features:

  • 115mm f/7 triplet apochromatic optics with fully multicoated ED glass for sharp, clear images.
  • A dual-speed 2.5" rack-and-pinion focuser with a 10:1 fine focusing ratio.
  • A durable nylon carry case, rotatable focuser with a camera angle adjuster, and a retractable dew shield.
  • Dual split-hinged tube rings with a Vixen-style dovetail mount.

The 115mm aperture collects 27% more light than standard 102mm refractors, enhancing performance at a competitive price, significantly less than similar scopes. This scope offers premium features like a 360° rotatable focuser with a built-in camera angle adjuster and compression ring eyepiece holders, all encased in a robust optical tube with high-quality coatings and internal light baffles for superior contrast and minimal light loss.

"So it has been a fairly productive first three months of the year. A couple of great reviews in Sky and Telescope on two of our scopes. One, the AT90CFT was called a desert island type of scope. That is a heap of praise in my opinion and I am very grateful that Sky And Telescope enjoyed the instrument. Then a few issues later, we received an excellent review for the best-selling AT115EDT. Honestly, no real surprise on that one as the 115 has been our best-selling model out of every Astro-Tech we sell regardless of aperture," said Mike Bieler, President of Astronomics.
