The new Tele Vue Air-Chair TAC-1003 is a durable, comfortable, and adjustable observing stool designed for astronomers, featuring a 4" cushion, class 4 pneumatic piston, and double-braced tripod legs for stability in the field.

Tele Vue has unveiled its latest product, the Air-Chair (TAC-1003), a custom observing stool designed specifically for astronomers. Built to meet the demanding needs of stargazers, this chair offers comfort, durability, and easy adjustability, making it an essential tool for extended observing sessions.

Details about the Tele Vue Air Chair TAC-1003 release

The Air-Chair is engineered using parts sourced from the United States and Taiwan. Its assembly process, completed at Tele Vue's headquarters, ensures high quality and attention to detail. The chair is built to withstand outdoor conditions, making it suitable for long nights in the field.

At the core of the Air-Chair is a 4-inch thick vinyl-covered cushion, designed to provide comfort during extended periods of use. The seat is soft, rotating, and removable, offering both comfort and ease of transport. This feature allows users to enjoy more time at the eyepiece, enhancing their observing experience.

A key feature of the Air-Chair is its custom wide seat-flange, made from 3/16” thick aluminum. This component stabilizes the seat cushion, even when the user's weight is offset. This ensures stability and support throughout the observing session.

The Air-Chair also includes an adjustable height mechanism. The piston release block, mounted securely to the aluminum seat flange, allows users to adjust the seat height easily. With a height range from 20½” to 28″ (52 to 71 cm), it is optimized for use with Tele Vue scopes and mounts, ensuring the chair pairs perfectly with a variety of telescope setups.

The class 4 pneumatic piston, rated to support up to 550 lbs (250 kg), is another standout feature. This durable, sealed piston requires no maintenance and is built for high-pressure performance. A custom-machined bushing in the piston housing ensures smooth and wobble-free motion during height adjustments.

The chair's tripod legs are double-braced for enhanced stability and durability. A hand-locking screw secures the leg spreader to prevent tipping accidents. The thick rubber foot pads offer added protection for both the floor and the legs during field use.

The Air-Chair is designed for ease of use and portability. Its legs fold, and the seat can be removed for convenient transport. This feature makes it easy to carry and store when not in use.

Whether stargazing or engaging in astrophotography, the Air-Chair is an invaluable tool for any observer.

Tele Vue has ensured that the Air-Chair meets the high standards required for professional use in astronomy. The chair is not recommended for use in temperatures below -20° F (-29° C) to maintain optimal performance.
