The HAZ130 iOptron Alt-Az Mount with Dual Strain Wave Gear Drives, a high-capacity, precision-engineered mount perfect for both visual astronomy and imaging. With features like quiet stepper motors and advanced tracking capabilities, this mount is ideal for modern astronomers.

iOptron, an innovator in astronomical equipment, is excited to announce the release of the HAZ130 Alt-Az mount, a revolutionary advancement in heavy-duty mounting solutions for astronomers. If you are an astronomer wanting a next level heavy duty mount with the latest in strain wave gear technology, your wait is over.

Introducing the HAZ130 iOptron Alt-Az Mount with Dual Strain Wave Gear Drives

In a direct quote from iOptron to ScopeTrader, they mentioned, "Its development has been influenced by requests for mounts capable of tracking satellites and or space debris as well."

Engineered for those seeking cutting-edge tech and robust performance, this s their highest capacity SWG mount to date. Designed to accommodate instruments as large as the 16” F/8 RC truss OTA, this mount carries a payload of up to 132lbs. It offers full Go-To pointing and Alt-Az tracking utilizing its 8411 hand set with an OLED display or through independent computer control. All of that without the use of counterweights.

Stability and Precision with CNC Machined Design

The all-metal CNC machined fork mount design provides optimal stability for both tracking and imaging. Equipped with two adjustable Losmandy style saddles, it accommodates various sized instruments easily. The SWG drive system is ideal for unbalanced payloads, featuring a unique friction brake that safely halts movement during any power interruption, planned or unplanned. Its wide stance adjustable base includes a high precision leveling indicator to ensure unmatched Go-To pointing accuracy.

Quiet, Reliable Performance with Advanced Features

The precision of the SWG gear system is powered by quiet, reliable stepper motors. Other notable features include mounting holes for NUC computers and other devices, USB communication ports, 180° altitude and 360° azimuth movement ranges, and low power consumption. The new iOptron mount is not only an exceptional tool for visual astronomy and imaging, it is also designed to integrate seamlessly with the latest satellite and space debris tracking software, making it an excellent antenna platform for radio communication enthusiasts.

iOptron tells us there is not an EQ mode for the mount, but it will connect to anything ASCOM compliant for controlling it, such as the ASIAir.

See it at NEAF 2025

Want to check out the HA130 in person? iOptron says the mount will be on display at NEAF (Northeast Astronomy Forum), which will be held in Suffern, New York at the Rockland Community College campus on April 5th and 6th, 2025.
