Odyssey and Expert range telescopes

Odyssey and Expert range telescopes

Key differences between the telescopes

The Unistellar telescope lineup consists of two main categories: the Odyssey Range (Odyssey and Odyssey Pro) and the Expert Range (eQuinox 2 and eVscope 2). The Odyssey Range is designed for all skill levels, offering portability and ease of use, while the Expert Range targets advanced users looking for higher resolution and enhanced capabilities.

The Odyssey Range telescopes are notably lighter and more compact compared to the Expert Range. Odyssey and Odyssey Pro weigh approximately 8.8 lbs (3.99 kg), while the Expert models (eQuinox 2 and eVscope 2) are heavier, around 19.8 lbs (9 kg). This makes the Odyssey models more portable and suitable for quick, on-the-go observations.

Both ranges use Nikon High Precision Optics with advanced features like Multi-Depth Technology and Stellar Autofocus. However, the Odyssey Range is more focused on intuitive use with automatic focus, while the Expert Range offers manual focus for finer control during advanced observations. Additionally, the Odyssey models have a smaller aperture (85 mm) compared to the Expert models (114 mm), which impacts light gathering and image clarity.

The Odyssey Pro and eVscope 2 offer higher image resolution and clarity compared to their counterparts. The eVscope 2, in particular, features the Nikon Eyepiece Technology, enhancing visual experiences during social or public stargazing events. Both Odyssey models are optimized for versatility, while the Expert models are tailored for detailed celestial imaging, including capturing distant galaxies with better noise reduction.

All models come with built-in rechargeable batteries and support Wi-Fi connectivity for control via a mobile app. The Odyssey Range excels in ease of use, with dynamic signal amplification and ambient noise reduction, while the Expert Range models are built to capture detailed deep-sky images with superior light pollution reduction.

ODYSSEY telescopes - focused on delivering an intuitive, captivating voyage for experienced stargazers and beginners

The Odyssey packs incredible power to ensure a captivating experience and provides a seamless experience so you can focus on enjoying the stars. As the first telescope capable of observing both nearby planets and deep-space objects, the ODYSSEY is light, weighing just 8.8 lbs (3.99 kg), compact, and features an iconic design. It also allows users to explore space in just two minutes, no matter where they are - even in brightly lit urban environments.

Its intelligent light pollution reduction technology uses advanced image processing to filter out the effects of city lights, delivering sharp, high-resolution images of celestial objects.

The intuitive experience of ODYSSEY is based on several UNISTELLAR technological innovations:

  • Nikon High Precision Optics, co-developed with Nikon, makes astronomical observation an easy and enjoyable experience. The ODYSSEY is the first mirror telescope, the most high-performing category of telescopes for exploring the universe, which requires no manual adjustment.
  • The Stellar Autofocus provides perfect sharpness when observing objects located millions of light-years away, thanks to a fully automated focus system combining a smart algorithm and a dedicated motorised sensor.
  • With the Multi-Depth Technology, a patented UNISTELLAR technology, telescopes effortlessly switch from exploring the details of Jupiter, such as its Great Red Spot and atmospheric bands, to the spiral arms of the Whirlpool Galaxy, distant by tens of millions of light-years.
  • Thanks to its large diameter (85mm), fine sampling (0.93 arcseconds), and high resolution (1.68 arcseconds), the ODYSSEY reveals small details of the solar system.
