Full frame astrograph SV555 coming from SVBONY. The SV555 APO 243mm f/4.5 super astrophotography telescope offers advanced optics with a 3-group Petzval lens and built-in field flattener for clear, distortion-free images. It supports full-frame cameras and includes an adjustable aperture, EAF mount kit, and 360º rotator for versatile use.
Svbony has introduced its latest astrophotography telescope, the SV555 APO 243mm f/4.5 telephoto camera lens, offering advanced features tailored for both deep-sky astrophotography and everyday photography. Priced at $599.99, the scope is less expensive than the comparable (and infamous) Redcat 51 (currently priced at $898) but promises to elevate image quality and ease of use. Plus the SV555 comes with a few options you won't get with the RedCat, including an EAF mounting kit in the box.
The full frame astrograph SV555 details
The telescope uses a Petzval objective lens structure consisting of five elements in three groups. This includes a triplet lens system that enhances clarity, reduces chromatic aberrations, and provides a sharper image. A built-in field flattener addresses common distortions such as coma, ensuring a uniform image across the entire field of view. These advancements will make the SV555 a great choice for deep-space objects.
Additionally, the SV555 is equipped with a built-in adjustable aperture, ranging from F22 to F4.5. This feature offers significant versatility, whether capturing fine astronomical details or terrestrial scenes. A graded adjustment ring and scale helps ensure that aperture settings remain consistent, even when accidentally touched, leading to greater accuracy in every shot. The user-friendly design is further enhanced by the included EAF Mount Kit (though the EAF itself is not included), allowing for automatic and precise focusing.

The SV555 has a 44mm full-frame image circle that accommodates mirrorless cameras, DSLR cameras, and deep-sky cameras. Whether users are working on deep-sky astrophotography or shooting landscapes, the SV555 provides a versatile imaging solution without the concern of aperture vignetting or other obstructions.
The SV555 is also designed with convenience in mind. It features a lockable 360º rotator, providing flexibility for finding the perfect angle during shooting. The integrated 2-inch filter holder ensures smooth integration with standard filters, while the quick-release system, compatible with both V-style and Arca-Swiss mounts, makes setup and transitions quick and effortless. The single-speed helical focuser allows for fine-tuning of the focus, which can be particularly useful for capturing sharp images under varying conditions.
Practicality extends to the telescope's handling, with a handle and dovetail plate included for easy maneuvering and setup. The dovetail plate is equipped with 1/4" threaded holes, adding to the telescope's versatility in mounting options. The lightweight yet durable design of the SV555 ensures that it is portable while still maintaining stability during use, making it a perfect companion for both fieldwork and observatory setups.
SV555 imaging capabilities
The SV555 is built for flexibility beyond astrophotography too. The M72 front filter thread enables connection to standard camera filters, opening up possibilities for photographers who wish to use the lens for everyday photography. The combination of astronomical and terrestrial imaging capabilities, along with its adaptable design, makes the SV555 a multipurpose tool for various shooting environments.
What is included in the SV555 package
The package includes the 54mm f/4.5 OTA (optical tube assembly), an EAF mount kit, a handle with an integrated Vixen finder saddle, a dovetail plate, a camera angle adjuster, a 2-inch filter holder, and other essential accessories such as a plastic lens cover and a soft padded case for transport.
