Minh Trong is a civil engineer by profession with a profound passion for astronomy. As the founder of MLastro, he has dedicated himself to advancing solar imaging technology. Operating a remote imaging observatory in the suburbs of Hanoi, Vietnam, he has spent years refining his expertise in capturing the Sun’s intricate details.

His journey into solar imaging began four years ago, leading him to explore the potential of the Spectroheliograph (SHG). Inspired by Christian Buil’s DIY project, Minh recognized key limitations in existing designs, such as the durability of 3D-printed housings for outdoor use, challenges in precision optical alignment, and constraints on optics that affected full-disk imaging. Determined to overcome these hurdles, he developed the SHG 700, a robust and versatile solution that enhances imaging quality and usability.
