Richard Hammar is an attorney and CPA based in Springfield, Missouri, USA. A graduate of Harvard Law School and Harvard Divinity School, Richard specializes in legal and tax issues for religious organizations, having authored over 50 books on the subject. His publications can be found on his website, Churchlawandtax.com. Additionally, he is one of only 270 Professional Registered Parliamentarians in the United States, an "extra class" amateur radio operator, and a certified diesel mechanic.

For 35 years, Richard has served as a fifth-grade Sunday School teacher and leads a mentoring class for high school students. His interest in astronomy was sparked in high school when he viewed Saturn through his brother's 4-inch reflector telescope. Over the years, he has owned several telescopes, including a Celestron 8" SCT, and even built a 6" reflector, including polishing its mirror.

Married with three grown children, Richard has a unique spiritual journey. Initially identifying as an agnostic and later as an atheist during his college years, he experienced a life-changing conversion to Christianity toward the end of his undergraduate studies. This transformation has shaped his life and work, and he continues to empathize with those who question or reject God. His Christian faith has brought him profound fulfillment, and he hopes to inspire others on their own spiritual journeys through his work and this website.
