The latest firmware update for the TTS-160 Panther Mount introduces seamless integration with the popular SkySafari app, enhancing user control and precision in stargazing experiences. With SkySafari now available on mobile devices, Panther Mount users can effortlessly align and command their mounts through an intuitive interface, tapping into a vast catalog of celestial objects at their fingertips.

Effortless mount control: Panther Mount with SkySafari integration

SkySafari integration enables users to switch between app-based control for object selection and tracking and the Panther Mount's handpad for fine adjustments. This dual functionality combines the app’s robust object-finding capabilities with the handpad's precise movement control, creating a highly customizable observation experience. The option to use the handpad also helps maintain night vision during sessions, allowing for focused observations without screen distractions.

What’s required for SkySafari integration

To access this feature, users need:

  • TTS-160 Panther Mount (equipped with a NEXUS-II Wi-Fi adapter)
  • SkySafari app on a smartphone or tablet
  • Firmware version 355 or later on the Panther Mount

Quick setup guide for SkySafari alignment

Getting started with SkySafari is simple:

  1. Position the mount with the telescope pointing south and horizontal.
  2. Connect the handpad and NEXUS-II adapter, then power up both the mount and adapter.
  3. On the handpad, select “Align from PC,” then “Start 2* align.”
  4. Connect SkySafari to the mount, select your alignment stars, and use the app or handpad for initial slewing. Once centered, align with SkySafari to complete the setup.

This new SkySafari integration offers amateur astronomers a streamlined, versatile tool to elevate their celestial exploration.
