NOMAD Star Tracker from Move Shoot Move

Move Shoot Move’s NOMAD Tracker is a portable star-tracking device developed for both beginner and seasoned astrophotographers. This tracker is designed to provide an easy-to-use and travel-friendly solution while ensuring precise star tracking, based on user feedback and improvements from the earlier MSM Rotator model.

One of the key upgrades in the NOMAD Tracker is its enhanced attachment system. Unlike the MSM Rotator, which required specific weight positioning for stability, the NOMAD eliminates this issue entirely. The laser now screws directly into the tracker, removing any risk of wobbling during use. Additionally, the quick-release plate at the base is secured in two places, preventing any twisting of the tracker on its mount.

The NOMAD Tracker also offers increased load capacity, with hardware designed to withstand twice the torque of the MSM Rotator, making it suitable for wide-field deep-sky photography in addition to wide-angle astro-landscapes. For advanced users, an optional counterweight system is available to enhance deep-sky imaging capabilities even further.

To streamline the operation, the NOMAD Tracker features a simple three-position switch for Northern Hemisphere, Southern Hemisphere, or Off. This user-friendly design was achieved by removing the non-tracker functions of the previous MSM Rotator, making the NOMAD Tracker a dedicated device for star tracking without added complexity. While it can still be used for night sky timelapse, it does not include the Move Shoot Move timelapse mode from the MSM Rotator.

Portability remains a key focus of the NOMAD Tracker. Weighing just 0.95 pounds (430 grams) and measuring 3.5 x 2.6 x 2.16 inches (89 x 67 x 55 mm), it is designed to be compact and easy to transport. This makes it ideal for photographers who need to travel light, even to remote locations. The anodized aluminum body, CNC machined for durability, ensures the NOMAD can handle rugged environments while remaining compatible with Arca-Swiss style mounts through its V-style dovetail base connection.

With a maximum payload of 7.7 pounds (3.5 kg), the NOMAD Tracker is capable of supporting a range of equipment. However, it is important to note that the tracker does not come with a laser adapter or polar scope mount, which must be purchased separately. This lightweight and robust design makes the NOMAD Tracker an ideal choice for photographers who need a reliable and portable solution for capturing the night sky.
