Pennyrile StarGaze 2024

Posted on Friday, May 24, 2024 by RICHARD HARRIS, Executive Editor

If you're looking for a unique and engaging outdoor activity, consider attending the Pennyrile Stargaze, a star party set against the picturesque backdrop of Pennyrile State Park. This informal gathering will be held from September 28th to October 6th, and best of all, there is no attendance fee.

Located about 2 miles from the State Park campground, the star observing location is conveniently situated near the Park Maintenance Building. Attendees can enjoy the comfort of camping right at the site, with options for both tents and motor homes. For those who prefer not to camp, the State Park offers lodge rooms, cabins, and a well-regarded restaurant. The park also boasts a golf course for daytime activities.

Essential amenities are readily available. Porta potties are on-site, and the state campground showers can be used for a small fee. For those seeking a more comfortable stay, the nearby campground lodge is a great option. Additionally, the town of Dawson Springs is just a 15-minute drive away and offers several dining options.

The Pennyrile Stargaze has a dedicated Facebook page where you can find limited information and photos from past events. For a glimpse of what to expect, there's a YouTube video from the 2020 star party below.
