Posted on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 by RICHARD HARRIS, Executive Editor

Explore Scientific has introduced a significant upgrade for astronomy enthusiasts with its new adapter cable set designed for the EXOS-2 GOTO Equatorial Mount. This set, in conjunction with the latest Bresser Driver compatible with ASCOM and the EXOSII GOTO EQ V2.3hex software version, enables users to update the handbox firmware and enhance the mount's operation using Windows-based navigation software through ASCOM.

For those utilizing the ASCOM platform, it's essential to use an AC/DC 12V 3a power supply with a 5.5mm x 2.5mm DC power cable male plug to ensure the system runs smoothly, due to the ASCOM driver's specific power requirements.

Moreover, the new system supports seamless integration with other astronomy programs like Cartes du Ciel. Users should select the ASCOM option in the telescope settings, configure the communications port, and connect. For those who wish to operate multiple ASCOM Client Astronomy Programs simultaneously, the POTH (Plain Old Telescope Handset) hub is required to manage connections effectively.

This enhancement not only simplifies the firmware updating process but also broadens the compatibility of the EXOS-2 mount with various software, allowing astronomers to achieve more precise and flexible celestial tracking and observation.
